Scooter-Sharing has become one of the most rapidly adopted services by tourists and commuters. This paper assesses the effect of scooters on travel behaviour, the urban built environment, and sustainable development.
The sharing scooters are advantageous as they are user-friendly. The smartphones has enabled users to unlock a scooter with a single touch and conveniently maneuver through heavy traffic without the need to find a parking space. In addition to the convenience in mobility offered, this unique selling point is very useful in highly urbanized areas where public transport is limited or overly crowded. In addition, most scooter operators offer a pay-per-minute model which allows people to only pay when they are actually using the scooter.
Furthermore, the ecological advantages of sharing scooters also contribute to their popularity.
